Jeff Timmons

Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees is preparing to return to the spotlight starting this spring with his new VH1 show that is yet untitled; “Basically 3 or 4 guys from different groups are putting together 3 songs for charity, for Rich Cronin; one of the members [and] former front man of LFO who is battling a rare form of leukemia and we’re going to take what we gain from sales and donate it to his foundation.” While we have seen Jeff’s bandmates, Nick and Drew, on reality TV and the exposure they have gained Jeff was still reluctant to enter the world of reality, “It’s not really reality, its sort of scripted reality. But VH1 has pulled ahead of MTV in ratings and its one of the biggest networks out there. I think the exposure the show is going to give me is defiantly going to benefit whatever I am doing.” The VH1 show isn’t the only project Jeff is working on right now, he is currently recording his next solo album, a different change from his first solo album which was, “a big ballad driven production… which I recorded in my house, it was a great learning experience. I really just wanted to get my hand involved in everything the music industry entails.” But his new album, which fans were able to hear some tracks from at his hometown show, will be “a little more fun, a supped up production. A little more pop, less adult contemporary, and a lot more up tempo stuff that’s real fun.”

Fans lined up hours before Jeff’s hometown show, which he pushed for, “I had on the schedule a show in New York, at BB Kings, and I kind of wanted to do it here and get back in the area. It’s known as a football town, and I wanted to get it some exposure in a different light.” If exposure was what he wanted for his hometown, it was what he got. The show later that night featured all local talent, from the DJ and show Emcee to the opening acts and even Jeff’s stage band. Jeff wanted to make sure that we knew the Massillon area had talent and even had us chat with his band for the night, all seasoned musicians who are in the band, Loyality Among Theives, along with individual projects. “My best friends are here, the guys I write all my music with are here, so I try to get back and see them. Any excuse I can have to get back here I try to use.”

He loves his hometown and he loves his fans, “It’s cool to give back and get back. And I want to thank my fans, I appreciate their support as awlways. Goto VH1 for updates and look for the new video on the V-Spot.”
